World Athletics (fall 2025-present)

I first worked with World Athletics as a participant in its Media Academy in spring 2025. As a part of that, I attended several classes and produced two pieces: a feature (linked below) and an advance obituary. I wasn't chosen to travel to Tokyo for the 2025 World Athletics Championships as part of the cohort, but I did keep working with World Athletics.

After my internship with TrackTown USA over the spring and summer of 2025, I was brought back on contract to write a series of features highlighting U20 athletes worldwide ahead of the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships, to be hosted at Hayward Field. Here's what I've done so far:

A story about the last time one of the world's best young track athletes was bored. It starts with a teenager watching a Cowboys game from his couch. Published Oct. 29, 2025.

A story about sticky notes on bedroom walls and revenge tours that aren't sad. It starts with the last time she was nobody. Published Dec. 15, 2025.

And here's my feature for the Media Academy, published to my Medium page with photo by Rian Yamasaki:

A story about hating waiting and doing it anyway. I interviewed Klaudia multiple times, and spoke with her coaches and her mentor. I had to leave my dorm and go look at Hayward Field to finish it. Submitted April 2025.
