Writing

My first article was published with Ranks FC, a British media startup created by Dean Jones, Sam Tighe, and Jack Collins. When the Seattle Sounders reached the Concacaf Champions League Final in 2022, I reached out with a piece titled You Need To Watch This Game.

From there, I've gone on to become the Chief Writer and MLS Correspondent, working to bring an American perspective on the beautiful game to the place it calls home.

In addition to my writing, I appear on feature podcasts and have managed their Twitter account (@RankSquad).
Stepping Into My World

My greatest fear when I tell people what I want to do is that, somewhere down the line, I'll inexplicably dislike it.
The opportunity to work at Ranks FC, alongside professionals in the football media industry, is one that is integral to my introduction into the complex world that surrounds the world's most popular sport. While writing for the page and appearing on podcasts as the MLS Correspondent, I am able to develop an understanding of what it means to be a journalist, and do work that I'd be expected to do in the position as a professional.

That exposure is what's soothed the worry that enveloped the commitments I made to the industry throughout my time working with Ranks. I've been the beneficiary of mentorship that helped to direct passion into a focused penstroke, and I believe that every aspiring journalist should have the chance to experience firsthand what they love to do - not only for the boost it adds to their resume, but for the emotional door it opens to a new type of love of for the game.
